Marion McGarry holds a PhD from Ulster University and a Master's Degree from University of Limerick in history of art and architecture. Prior to this she worked in the design and furniture industries in Ireland and the UK. She is currently a part time lecturer in Galway Mayo Institute of Technology (Letterfrack Campus). She has also lectured on art and design history at Griffith College Dublin and the College of Art at Limerick Institute of Technology. She has authored two books (see below) and is currently working on a third book on Irish castles. Her chief research interests are Irish identity expressed in design and material culture.
